Dr N.M. Ewers-Peters

Nele Marianne Ewers-Peters is Assistant Professor for European Security at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS) at Maastricht University. Previously, she was Lecturer and Postdoctoral Researcher at Helmut Schmidt University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg, DAAD Postdoctoral Researcher at the Foreign Policy Institute of the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University, Washington DC, Lecturer at University College London and Assistant Lecturer at the University of Kent. She obtained her PhD in International Relations from the University of Kent and completed studies in Bath, Bremen and Helsinki. 

 

In her research, Nele focuses on the intersection of European security and global governance. Her special interests and expertise are in EU-NATO cooperation, member states in security organisations, approaches to security cooperation, and crisis management. Nele is the author of Understanding EU-NATO Cooperation: How Member States Matter (Routledge, 2022) and co-editor of NATO 2030: Towards a New Strategic Concept and Beyond (Brookings Institution Press, 2021). Her work has been published in British Journal of Politics and International Relations, Defence Studies, European Security, and German Politics
