Update #11: cyber attack UM

Please check out our FAQ list

At present, we are still working hard to get all UM systems operational again. The most important education-related computer systems are up and running again, though to a limited extent. Work is currently being done to create a clean and safe working environment and to make back-up files available for computer systems that are important for regular business operations, such as email and file servers.

Reset your password before Monday, 6 January

We advise students and staff to change their passwords from outside the UM network before Monday, 6 January. Students can do this by logging in to the Student Portal. Staff can do this by logging in to UM intranet. You will be automatically asked to modify your password. Please note: don’t go for the "password recovery" option!

Many users have heeded the call to reset their passwords. At the time of publication of this update, more than 15000 users changed their login details. Please note that you don’t actually have to come to the university to reset your password.

Monday, 6 January

Work is currently underway on making the email environment and file servers operational.

Tomorrow, at the end of the day, there will be a new update. We are aiming to announce what will be operational on Monday. Then we will hopefully be able to give a better indication of what this will mean for the day-to-day work of employees.

Impression University Library and call centres

The UL is fully operational again. Today, around 240 students were studying at the UL in the city centre and 25 students at the UL in Randwyck. The atmosphere was relaxed. In the past two days, the call centres have been able to handle more than 300 requests for information.

Main updates FAQ

  •

Capital letters not visible when changing password

. On some devices (including iPhones and iPads), capital letters are currently not visible in the password boxes. However, these are being registered in the system. It is best if you can change your password on another device to prevent confusion.
